1997 Graduated from Hiroshima University with a bachelor's degree.

2002 Awarded a master's degree at the Graduate school with the Division of Biophere Sciences, from Hiroshima University. Graduated from Hiroshima University with a doctoral degree in the same graduate school of Division of Biophere Sciences. After graduation, he was employed by the University to conduct scientific research and served as a research assistant in Faculty of Integrated Arts and Sciences, at Hiroshima University.

2003 Awarded a master's degree at the Graduate school with the Division of Biophere Sciences, from Hiroshima University. Graduated from Hiroshima University with a doctoral degree in the same graduate school of Division of Biophere Sciences. After graduation, he was employed by the University to conduct scientific research and served as a research assistant in Faculty of Integrated Arts and Sciences, at Hiroshima University.

2006 Assistant Professor of the Institute for Advanced Materials Research, Hiroshima University, and was promoted to Associate Professor the following year.

2015 Associate Professor of the Graduate School of Integrated Arts and Sciences, Hiroshima University.

2017 Professor of the Graduate School of Engineering, Hiroshima University.

2020 Professor of the Graduate School of Advanced Science and Engineering until now.

Detailed introduction

Research Areas:

Professor Takayuki Ichikawa focused on cutting-edge application technologies for metal and non-metal solid-state hydrogen storage materials, lithium-ion batteries, ammonia storage materials, CO2 recovery and reuse, and thermochemical hydrogen production. His laboratory has always focused on the research of hydrogen energy-related materials.

Professor Takayuki Ichikawa has long-term scientific research and application experience in the field of materials science and materials engineering, especially in the research of energy conversion and efficient utilization technology. He has ever served as the Cho-Shi Gaku area officer of the Japan Institute of Metals and Materials (JIM), the editor of the Journal of the Japan Institute of Energy, and the reviewer of the Japan Hydrogen Association. He also founded the Japan Green Hydrogen Ammonia Association, which further promoted the development of related industries.

Research Achievements:

Professor Takayuki Ichikawa has been focusing on the research of solid-state hydrogen storage and successfully built the M-N-H system to reveal the solid-solid reaction under the synergistic effect of ammonia. In the research of lithium-ion secondary battery electrode materials, Professor Takayuki Ichikawa systematically investigated the applicable value of metal hydrides and developed a number of high-efficiency energy storage systems accordingly. He has also led the team to successfully overcome the technical problems of ammonia manufacturing under normal pressure. In terms of academic achievements, he has published more than 260 academic papers, which have been cited by others in SCI more than 8,200 times. He has also published seven academic monographs and owned 19 national invention patents. In terms of academic exchanges and organizations, he has initiated to hold 11 international and Japanese academic conferences and has given a total of 135 keynote speeches at different conferences. He has made outstanding achievements in this field and won 7 awards, including the JIM Award, the Functional Materials Science Award, and the Japan Institute of Energy Progress Award.
